First Album

Yoseob released his first studio album, Fiction and Fact, in 2011 as a member of Highlight, formerly known as Beast. The album peaked at number 1 spot on the Korean music charts.

Yoseob was inspired to make a career in music after he first listened to American R&B singer-songwriter and musician, Brian McKnight.

In high school, he became a part of a school band performing mainly hard rock and metal.

He also wanted to try his hand in modern rock but was discouraged by his seniors at the time.

After high school, he got a chance to train with JYP Entertainment but received a bad grade from practice reviews and left the agency and joined Cube Entertainment.

While he was still training with Cube Entertainment, he served as a backup dancer for his now groupmate, Lee Gi-kwang.

He was one of the judges for The Voice Kids – Korea in 2013.
