THE video for X Factor winner Dami Im's single Alive has been taken down after fans slammed it for looking "cheap".

Im's record label Sony Music Australia has removed the single online and promised to reshoot the clip.

The sweet-natured singer's first video was filmed just days after her X Factor win as she also raced to complete the vocals for her self-titled debut record.

Fans had expressed disappointment in the video on social media, criticising the production values and her "awkward" performance.

"I understand it was all done with limited time but if that's the best you could do for Dami you should have let Noah do it at home on his iPhone," wrote one of her supporters.

DAMI IM SUBJECTED TO RACIST TWEETS

Sony took the video down late last week, coincidentally after a meeting with Im's coach Dannii Minogue who has been working with X Factor artist producers DNA in their studios.

The label explained their decision on Facebook and Twitter last night.

"To all the Dami Im fans, the video for Alive was taken down because we listened to you, the fans," the label posted.

X FACTOR WINNER REFUSES TO CHANGE HER LOOK

"We are shooting a new video shortly and we will keep you posted on the progress.

Thanks again for all your tremendous support of Dami."

Im's fans urged the label to fix the video fearing it would jeopardise her chances for global success when viewed alongside American and British artists who enjoy bigger production budgets.

Australian artists and music video directors have long struggled to produce world class clips with limited funds of less than $50,000 compared to their international contemporaries.

But Im's career in Asia has got off to a flying start with her album not only hitting No. 1 on iTunes in Australia since its release last Friday but also no. 11 in Philippines, no. 3 in Singapore and no. 2 in Malaysia.

"I am so humbled by all the love and support I've been receiving from all around. Thank you so much for liking my first album and I hope to give back by making more great music," she wrote to fans.
